During natural disasters and humanitarian crises, effective sanitation interventions are crucial to prevent disease outbreaks and protect public health. However, WASH practitioners working in emergencies often encounter significant challenges around rapid decision making, inadequate training of personnel, and the logistical difficulties of working in challenging environments. Under such conditions, conventional sanitation options are often rendered ineffective or impractical, necessitating innovative approaches and flexible planning.

To address these obstacles, CAWST has developed self-paced online modules that provide guidance and sanitation solutions for WASH practitioners. The modules will focus on providing practical, field-tested solutions, covering key areas like latrine reinforcement in difficult conditions, decision-making processes for establishing full sanitation service chains in emergencies.
